"Mr. Roji"

I first met “Mr. Roji” in 2014, about eleven years ago. He worked at the front desk at the clinic of “Dr. Yuseph”, a compassionate surgeon known for performing countless operations at minimal cost to help those in need, especially refugees and the poor. During the many hours spent in Dr. Yuseph’s waiting room, I came to know Mr. Roji as a man of quiet strength. He greeted every patient with kindness, handled the endless stream of appointments with patience, and treated each person who entered the clinic with dignity and care.

But on October 9th, everything changed. Mr. Roji’s daughter suddenly disappeared while traveling to attend a lesson. Her disappearance was later revealed to be a kidnapping, with the goal of forcing her to convert to Islam. The family was thrown into anguish. They searched desperately, appealing to every authority they could reach, clinging to hope that she would be found.

After days of suffering, their prayers were answered, she was returned. Yet she came back in silence, unable to speak, deeply traumatized by what had happened. The harsh treatment and pressure by the radical Muslims was terrifying. For her safety, a priest arranged for her to be taken to a monastery, where she has slowly begun to heal. In recent days, she has regained her voice, and her parents were finally able to speak with her for the first time.

However, the persecution did not end with her return. Because he is a Christian, Mr. Roji soon lost his primary job. This position provided most of his income, leaving his family struggling to survive. He now relies solely on the small wage he earns in the evenings at Dr. Yuseph’s clinic. The emotional and financial toll has been devastating.

When I last saw him, tears filled his eyes; tears for his daughter’s pain, for the injustice done to his family, and for the uncertainty that lies ahead. Yet even in his grief, he holds onto faith.

Please join us in praying for Mr. Roji, his daughter, and their entire family.
