"Drew," a young Christian Egyptian, was supporting his family by driving a tuk-tuk (see photo). A tuk-tuk is a three-wheeled motorcycle with covered seating in the rear where two to three passengers can be conveniently taxied around. It is not a very profitable job, but Drew was able to support himself, his mother, and ailing father.
Drew was driving one night when a young Muslim man, Mohammed, approached Drew aggressively and attempted to steal from him. Mohammed is a thug, and when Drew resisted, Mohammed pulled out a knife and stabbed Drew in the face. Drew fled back home, where his mother tended to his injuries.
Drew decided to confront Mohammed about the stabbing. He believed that if he threatened to go to the police, Mohammed would back off and not attack Drew again. Mohammed was not intimidated. Instead, he pulled out his knife again, and stabbed Drew repeatedly until he died. Though this was done in a very public setting and there were many witnesses, no one intervened. Those present feared Mohammed would attack them, too.
The police have not investigated nor made an arrest. Often, when a Christian is the victim of a crime perpetrated by a Muslim, no action is taken. Sadly, it is likely there will be no justice for Drew.
Please pray for Drew's mother, who is suffering greatly the loss of her only child, and for Drew's father, who is gravely ill with pancreatic and colon cancer.
